Raine Kirstin Brandon

I am Raine Kirstin Brandon - God’s daughter, Christ follower & John’s wife. John & I are recent transplants to the Sunshine State from the DMV & after a year of transition, we’re finally beginning to make this place home. I have a BA in Sociology with a minor in Criminology from the great Hampton University & a Masters in Social Work from the University of Maryland in Baltimore. I am a huge fan of chocolate, bread, 90’s sitcoms & cartoons, Trader Joe’s, YA fiction, romantic comedies, all things Christmas, postcards, Asian food, photos & exploring the world with my best friend.

I am 28 years old & have been journaling consistently since I was 12, but never considered myself a writer until recently. I still go back & forth on that. I’m not trained in it, but I love writing. I want to be a writer, but sometimes my fear of vulnerability stops me from pursuing it more. There are things that I have seen & experienced that I feel like should be shared. Because we all need to know that we are never alone in what we go through & all of our stories matter. As much as I want this space to encourage you, I need it too. I need to share what’s on my heart in order to help me let go of fear & walk out of darkness, into His marvelous light.

My purpose in starting this blog for the third time in the past year (fear is something else) is that I would bravely live out my journey of faith in God & write about the light of His Son Jesus, so that you would know by His Holy Spirit & believe in your heart that He exists, that He loves you with an everlasting love, that He created you to be brave & to be light.

I pray that this space inspires you.

The Mission of Write Light is John 20:21 (ESV)

These are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

The Vision of Write Light is Matthew 5:14-16 (MSG)

Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.

Please Send More Rain

On December 8, 2017 I self-published my first book of poetry! Please Send More Rain is a book of poetry about spiritual revival in our hearts & in the world. It is a reflection of my journey of discovering who my heavenly Father is & who He has called me to be- a human vessel that brings to life the faith, hope & light within me through Jesus Christ, my personal Savior.

“Raine Brandon’s story blossoms through her writing & allows the reader to engage & discover, or re-discover, his or her own relationship with The Lord through journaling. It is a warm invitation to open our hearts to God, & allow His grace & love to fill us so we can live the beautiful life He created for us. Journey with her & experience your own revival within.”

Please Send More Rain can be purchased on Amazon. If you live in the Orlando area, you can also contact me directly to purchase a copy of the book.
